On 21st-May-2024, the residents of Rabindra Niketan Old Age Home in Kolkata experienced a day filled with warmth, love, and a sense of community. It was International Tea Day, and the home was buzzing with excitement!

The day began with a gentle stir, as the aroma of freshly brewed tea prepared by Chandan, Bidyut and Raj wafted through the halls, enticing everyone to gather in the common room. The residents, each with their own unique story, came together like old friends, eager to share in the celebration.

As they sipped their tea, memories began to flow like the steaming cups. Laughter and chatter filled the air, as they reminisced about their favorite tea moments, from childhood memories to special occasions. The room was aglow with smiles, as they savored every sip and every moment.

The highlight of the day was a special tea-tasting session organised by Surbhi Plantations Pvt Ltd where the residents got to experience different flavors and blends from around the world followed by Classical Dance of Ratnabali Dhar, Recitation and Singing session of Dayita Ballav, Their eyes lit up as they discovered new favorites, and some even recreated to songs which they sang together.

As the day went on, the home was filled with the sound of clinking cups, happy chatter, and the warmth of connection. It was a day that reminded everyone that, no matter what life brings, there’s always comfort in a cup of tea and the company of others.

As the celebration came to a close with cutting of cake by the senior residents of Rabindra Niketan Old Age Home left with full hearts, feeling grateful for the simple joys in life and the community they share. It was indeed a day well spent, and one that will be cherished until next year’s International Tea Day celebration!
